Zoanthus & Palythoa Care Guide
Lighting Requirements
Zoanthus and Palythoa are among the most forgiving corals when it comes to lighting. They can thrive under a wide range of lighting intensities, making them suitable for both beginners and advanced reef keepers. However, it’s always best to acclimate new arrivals in lower light areas, as they are more susceptible to damage from overexposure than from underexposure.
-
Low Light: 30–50 PAR
-
Medium Light: 50–150 PAR
-
High Light: 150+ PAR
Water Flow
Due to their structure, Zoanthus corals can trap detritus easily. A dirty colony may show reduced growth or tissue recession, whereas a clean one will remain healthy and vibrant. Proper water flow is essential to keep detritus and waste from accumulating.
-
Aim for strong, consistent flow with occasional bursts of higher intensity to flush out buildup.
-
If you don’t have a controllable pump, manually blasting the colony once daily with a turkey baster can help. Use just enough pressure to close the polyps briefly.
-
Important: Only use this method on well-established colonies. Freshly glued frags may detach and should not be disturbed with strong flow.

We guarantee live arrival on all our livestock. In the rare event livestock shows up dead, we must be notified within 2 hours of delivery. Please take clear photos of the dead plant/livestock and send it to us within 2 hours of receiving the item and send the clear photos, once the item is validated by us, we will send a replacement or refund.
We try not to have snails/pests, but it happens, we remove any visible imperfections before shipment however to be 100% certain we suggest that you either do a 1:20 ratio bleach to water dip and/or wash the plants. Anytime you add something new to an aquarium it is important to rinse it off before adding just to be safe.
Our customers are very important to us. Please help us by leaving positive feedback and if you are not satisfied or feel that we could somehow improve, please privately message us and we would be happy to help.
