Retrospiralis
Cryptocoryne retrospiralis
Size: Large
Low-light tolerant Crypt species. Ideal foreground or midground plant for planted tanks.
About this Plant
Cryptocoryne retrospiralis is a really beautiful aquarium plant with decorative thin leaves that have a hammered texture and often a dark coloration. Cryptocoryne retrospiralis is a very easy to care for plant, suitable for mid-sized to large aquariums. Use Cryptocoryne spiralis in groups to create a nice cluster swaying in the current of your aquarium. It should be noted that there is some controversy over the actual name of this plant. It is probably NOT the real C. retrospiralis from the wild. But the original collection site of the plants commercially sold with this name is unknown, and it has not flowered in culture, which further complicates positive identification. Until we have a positive identification, Florida Aquatic Nurseries will continue to use the widely recognized commercial name. The photos from the wild shown above are the true C. retrospiralis in southern India.
