The large group establishes a fast-breeding colony that overwhelms even a heavy infestation. Strictly aiptasia eaters and completely reef safe. Also sold in the hobby as Berghia verrucicornis, these are aquacultured, never wild-collected. Care is simple: drip-acclimate slowly, then release them onto the rock near an aiptasia cluster with the pumps off and the lights down — Berghia are nocturnal and shy, so you may not see them often even as the aiptasia disappears over the following weeks. Keep them only in established reef tanks with stable parameters (72–80°F, salinity 1.024–1.026); they have no interest in fish food, algae, or detritus and feed exclusively on aiptasia, so once the pest is eliminated the colony will slowly decline or can be moved to another infested tank. Avoid powerful uncovered intakes, which can pull in small specimens. Ships overnight as juveniles roughly 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
