Berghia Nudibranch — 5 Pack

Berghia stephanieae

$145.99BACKORDER

Size: 5 nudibranchs, ~1/4–1/2 inch each

A 5-pack of aquacultured Berghia nudibranchs — the safest, most effective way to wipe out a stubborn aiptasia (glass anemone) outbreak without chemicals or dips. Berghia eat aiptasia and nothing else: they will not touch your corals, clams, fish, or other invertebrates, making them completely reef safe. Working at night, they hunt down even the small aiptasia buried deep in rockwork that you can't reach by hand. Five is a solid starting dose for most tanks up to roughly 60–80 gallons; they breed in your tank as they feed, so the population grows to match the problem and then naturally tapers off once the aiptasia is gone. Also sold in the hobby as Berghia verrucicornis, these are aquacultured, never wild-collected. Care is simple: drip-acclimate slowly, then release them onto the rock near an aiptasia cluster with the pumps off and the lights down — Berghia are nocturnal and shy, so you may not see them often even as the aiptasia disappears over the following weeks. Keep them only in established reef tanks with stable parameters (72–80°F, salinity 1.024–1.026); they have no interest in fish food, algae, or detritus and feed exclusively on aiptasia, so once the pest is eliminated the colony will slowly decline or can be moved to another infested tank. Avoid powerful uncovered intakes, which can pull in small specimens. Ships overnight as juveniles roughly 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
